Confirmation Course

What is Confirmation?

A Confirmation Service provides an opportunity to make a public declaration of your faith in Jesus Christ with prayer from the Bishop. The Confirmation Service may be shared with other parishes and may take place at St Sebastian's Church or elsewhere.

If you were baptised as an infant, then this is the time when you can make for yourself the declarations of faith that were made on your behalf by your parents and godparents.  Please note that we ill need to see evidence of your baptism.

If you have never been baptised then you can be baptised and confirmed at the same time.  All those who are confirmed are also admitted to Holy Communion.

If you were confirmed as a young person but now want to make a renewed commitment to Jesus, then you can make an Affirmation of Baptismal Faith at a Confirmation Service.  Please talk to one of our clergy if you think this may apply to you.

Confirmation Courses

All adults wishing to be baptised and/or confirmed need to complete a course of preparation.  We normally offer a Confirmation Course over seven weeks as preparation for, and leading up to, a Confirmation Service.   If you have previously completed a full Alpha Course it may be possible to use that course as the basis of your preparation for confirmation instead; please check with us.

We are very happy to confirm young people who are in School Year 10 and above, and you will need to attend a separate Confirmation Course.  If you would like to discuss the course, or confirmation in general, please speak to Amy Vogel, our Family and Youth Pastor.
